Tempera Gallery
Egg Tempera is a revered painting technique with a profound historical significance, dating back to ancient Greece and Rome. This venerable art form utilizes a mixture of egg yolk, pure pigments, and water applied to a meticulously prepared surface. In my artistic process, I prioritize the creation of my own paints from finely milled pigments and carefully sourced, hand-gessoed boards, enhancing the intimate connection between the artist and the artwork. Additionally, I craft my own shellac to further personalize each piece. The glazing process is intricate and time-consuming, demanding patience and dedication as the painting develops gradually, yet the stunning results make this effort immensely rewarding. The vibrant and translucent colors inherent in egg tempera possess a unique brilliance that captivates the viewer, transforming each artwork into a luminous experience.
